BALD EAGLE

Bald Eagle
by David Burkhart

Bald eagle, bald eagle
Where did you go?
With your claws of steel
And head white as snow.

Bald eagle, bald eagle
Commanded the sky,
Nest on a rock cliff
Away up so high.

The Indian caught you
For your feathers supreme
Oh, how we miss you
How we miss your scream.

Your eyes scanned the distance,
You sensed the prey,
Your young ones demanded
Their food for the day.

Aeroplane Hunters
Chem-i-cals too,
They thinned you out
Now there's just a few.

Bald eagle, bald eagle,
Where did you go?
Talons of steel
And head white as snow.
